The OGA60 Round Britain fleet will be berthed in Kerrera Marina, just off Oban for the weekend ‘gathering’ 16 – 18 June, 2023. Several boats have already arrived including ‘Letty’, ‘Susan J’, ‘Indian Runner’, ‘Bonita’, ‘Recipe’ and ‘Hilda’. ‘Cygnet of London’ is hoping to reach Kerrera by Saturday, having left South Wales earlier in the week and ‘Onward of Ito’, having left Belfast on Monday has reached Gigha, with the skipper Martin commenting “Great sailing today are we in the Med.?” He’s hoping to be in Kerrera by Friday.
Several Scotland OGA members are joining the RBC60 fleet in Oban including ‘Ferryman’, a Tormentor 5 tonner built after World War 2 in an attempt to reduce the cost of yachts, ‘Macaria’, a gaff yawl built 1922 and the East Coast OGA President and Secretary, Robert and Lorna are bringing their Bermudan sloop ‘Sagan’, built 1965, from her home port at Loch Melfort. ‘Young Larry’, now based in Scotland has also arrived. Built in Malta with a steel hull ‘Young Larry’ has cruised the eastern Mediterranean and done the northwest passage. Alison and Julian, Scotland OGA organisers will be arriving in ‘Robinetta’ and East Coast Gaffers Jo and Paul have trailed ‘Titch’, a Memory 19 up from Suffolk to take part. Your Editor is due to arrive by campervan from Derbyshire on Friday to join in the party.
